Kellie was considered to be one of the greatest "American Idols" Even though she did not win. Kellie Pickler was born on June 28th, 1986 in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her parents are Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. The couple had an aged 16-year-old mother. It was a difficult childhood for Pickler as her father battled with addiction issues for both alcohol and drugs while her mother left her as she was just two. Morton took Pickler's custody for two years but Pickler claimed that her life was not going well. "I was cooking with my mother and told her that I would rather die than be here.' The woman pulled out a knife, placed it on top of the counter and told me, "Here, you do it." I was in the fourth grade. Naturally, I wouldn't have acted upon it however it has caused a lot of emotional scarring," she said. Pickler ended up being given to her grandparents by the court once she reached 12 years old. Morton failed to appear for the hearing. Pickler, who cites her grandparents as major influence throughout her whole life was a child of them. Faye Pickler, the grandmother whom she raised, died from lung cancer in the year 2001. He continued to raise Pickler. Pickler graduated with a high school diploma from North Stanly, located in New London, North Carolina.
